Dear Shipmates,

Things are quiet on the news front, for the most part. With the new year well underway, there is a need for news. If you have any happenings, photos or stories related to mines, mine warfare or of interest to AOM members, please send it along to me.

MIDDLE EAST MEMORIAL WALL

Most folks are not aware that a Middle East Conflicts Memorial Wall, similar in nature to the Vietnam wall exists. In the heart of America, a memorial exists that is dedicated to those who fought and died in Iraq, Afghanistan and conflicts in the Middle East. Without government and taxpayer support, a cellular company has sponsored a permanent memorial to our brave service members. This memorial has been attended by hundreds of thousands.

FREEDOM IS NOT FREE

Along the banks of the Illinois River, at  Marseilles, Illinois, this imposing memorial keeps alive the memory of our brave service members.
